Chicken Tikka Masala is one of the most popular dishes on any Indian menu. Today, I’ll show you how to make it at home — super easy and full of flavor! My Chicken Tikka Masala recipe uses only fresh ingredients like garlic and ginger. You’ll be amazed at how simple and incredibly delicious it tastes! I hope you have lots of fun making my Chicken Tikka Masala!

Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken tikka masala is one of the most popular recipes. This dish can be found on every Indian restaurant menu. Traditionally, this dish is prepared by grilling the meat on skewers and combining it with the sauce just before serving. So it’s a little elaborate for everyday cooking. Here I have created an easier and quicker recipe for you.

Chicken Tikka Masala with amazing ingredients

Anyone who has been following my food blog for a while knows that ready-made curry pastes have no place in my kitchen! The most important ingredients for my Chicken Tikka Massala are:

  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • heavy cream (alternative: coconut milk)
  • puréed tomatoes (or fresh chopped tomatoes when in season)
  • Hähnchenfleisch
  • yogurt
  • spices

You usually have most of the ingredients on hand. I would like to introduce you to the spices in more detail:-).

The spices in Chicken Tikka Masala

Spices are at the heart of almost all Indian and Pakistani dishes. That’s exactly how it is with my chicken tikka masala recipe. I have summarized the most important spices at a glance:

  • Cumin seeds
  • Coriander powder
  • Turmeric
  • Chili powder (hot)
  • Paprika powder
  • Garam masala

Garam Masala – die warme Gewürzmischung

Garam masala is one of the most important spice mixtures in Indian and Pakistani cuisine. There is no exact recipe for it. Every household has its own individual blend. If you want to take your curry dishes to the next level, I recommend making your own garam masala. The aroma and flavor that this gives off cannot be achieved with a store-bought garam masala mixture. You can find our traditional garam masala recipe here.

Side dishes for Chicken Tikka Masala

I recommend serving it with basmati rice or my fluffy naan bread. When we have guests over, I like to serve both — it’s always a big hit with my family and friends!
If the sauce turns out a bit too spicy, you can serve a spoonful of plain yogurt on the side, or make my refreshing…  Yogurt-mint dip

But a fresh, warm roti or chapati would also go perfectly with it. You can find my chapati recipe here.

Now I wish you lots of fun cooking and enjoying this delicious meal!
